Cookie notice.
What this website stores on your device, and why. The short version: two small settings, and nothing that tracks you.

What a cookie is
A cookie is a small text file a website asks your browser to keep, so the site can remember something about your visit. Sites can also store small settings in your browser’s local storage, which works much the same way. This notice covers both.
What this site stores
This site stores two small things, and only after you choose them: which edition you want to read, and that you’ve seen the cookie message. The site has an edition for Ireland, the UK and Europe and one for the United States. When you pick one, or tell the suggestion bar to stay where you are, we remember that choice so we don’t ask again.
| Name | What it does | Set when | Lasts |
|---|---|---|---|
nf_country | Tells our host which edition of the site to show you. | You click EU or US at the top of the page. | One year |
we-region (local storage) | Stops the edition suggestion bar appearing again once you’ve answered it. | You click EU or US, or “Stay here” on the suggestion bar. | Until you clear your browser data |
we-cookie (local storage) | Remembers that you’ve seen this cookie message, so it isn’t shown again. | You click “Got it” on the message. | Until you clear your browser data |
All three are strictly necessary to honour a choice you made, so no consent banner is needed for them and none is shown. They hold no personal data and are not shared with anyone.
Counting visits
We use Cloudflare Web Analytics to see how many people visit and which pages they read. It sets no cookies, stores nothing on your device and does not follow you across other websites or build a profile of you. We only see totals, such as page views and which country visits come from.
What this site does not do
There are no advertising cookies, no analytics cookies and no tracking pixels on this site. Our fonts are served from our own domain, not from Google. Our forms are protected by Cloudflare Turnstile, which loads only when you start filling in a form. It checks that you are a person without a puzzle, and the small cookie it may set on Cloudflare’s own domain is strictly necessary for that check and is not used to track you.
How to clear it
You can delete the edition setting at any time through your browser’s settings, under cookies and site data for whats.exposed. The site will work exactly the same afterwards; it will just suggest an edition again next time.
